The application to participate in the 2019 Local Phenology Leader Certification Course is now open! This course is designed to help you plan and develop a long-term phenology monitoring program using Nature’s Notebook. If you are a teacher, educator, or college faculty designing a course using Nature’s Notebook OR if you are a land manager, conservation educator, or scientist in need of recruiting volunteers to help you collect phenology data, this course is for you.
The 10-week course is work-at-your-own-pace and begins on Monday, September 23rd and runs through Wednesday, November 27th. You are required to complete weekly assignments on your own and join us for one online meeting each week. There will be two meeting times to choose from; you’ll pick the one that best fits your schedule. The meeting is designed to connect you with colleagues across the country.
In addition to weekly assignments there are three required course deliverables designed to help you immediately get started at the conclusion of the course.
Previous participants report spending about 5-8 hours per week, including the meeting time, on this course. Participants also report being thankful for having dedicated time to think about and start their programs.
The registration deadline is August 16th at 5:00 pm Pacific Time. We have space for 25 people. I will also keep a wait-list. The cost of the course is a non-refundable $55 and if you successfully complete the course and its deliverables you will receive a hard copy of our Botany Primer for Nature’s Notebook.
