The Aquatic Invasive Sentry Training Program is designed to help paddlers identify and report invasive species. We will cover the different types of invasive species, how to collect data and report them, and then identify some out on the St. Louis River! You may bring your own kayak or canoe, but we will have some available to borrow (along with paddles and PFDs if you need them). You will receive data sheets and a manual at the class.
Register and complete the online training (takes roughly an hour): all you need is your email and to create a password. http://ais-sentry.thinkific.com/courses/ais-sentry-monitor-training
On-the-Water: We will meet August 29th from 1:00-3:00 PM at Spirit Lake Marina (121 Spring Street, Duluth, MN) since they provide kayaks for us to borrow, but feel free to bring your own. Look for our St. Louis River Alliance flag as you come in and park next to that. We will discuss invasive species and then head out to paddle!
You must respond to Sarah at least 2 days in advance to reserve a kayak! Please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call the office at 218-733-9520.
*This class is weather dependent! We will reschedule if the conditions are unsafe.
