In the summer of 2015 a garden was created in a large prairie complex in Dakota County. The garden is located within the Vermillion Highlands : A Research Recreation and Wildlife Management Area.
The garden was created to offer a place for the public to learn about native prairie complexes with an emphasis on the pollinators that utilize them. A great deal of time, money and effort was put forth to create the gardens. The hope for a corporate sponsor or other partnership never materialized and the person in charge of upkeep has since retired.
We are looking for volunteers to weed and spread mulch to get the gardens back to their pristine condition and to maintain them in to the future. There is funding available to purchase supplies as needed.
