Saint Louis County Soil & Water Conservation District is looking for volunteers to help with a tree inventory in the Aspenwood neighborhood in Duluth. At this time there is no date set, but scheduling soon start. Below is the description the Tree Care Advocate program put out to their members.
Duluth Inventory – Call for Interest
The Saint Louis County Soil & Water Conservation District is looking to inventory a specific neighborhood in Duluth this spring/summer. While dates and times are not solidified, Beth Peterson, the District Forester, is looking to see if any Tree Care Advisors or Master Naturalist would be interested in leading volunteer groups in the inventory. These leaders would help lead smaller groups of volunteers and assist with tree identification.
While this is just a call for interest, the volunteer(s) would be expected to assist for roughly 10 hours between two days. The days planned will likely be a Friday, Saturday, Sunday or Monday. Additonally, if any volunteers would like to assist more, they can help with data entry or spot checking for accuracy.
If this sounds like an opportunity that interests you, please contact Beth Peterson at Beth.Peterson@ southstlouisswcd.org or (218) 730-8002.
Beth is also working with the city of Duluth urban forest commission. The city will be doing some emerald ash borer outreach very soon and will be looking for volunteers. It would help a lot to know we have some individuals with decent tree identification skills that are interested.
