Happy New Year BudBursters! The last few months have brought many changes to Project BudBurst and we are looking forward to more over the course of this year! First and foremost, we have transitioned ownership of both Project BudBurst and Citizen Science Academy from NEON to Chicago Botanic Garden. We here at CBG are thrilled to take on these programs and thank NEON for their wonderful stewardship of these programs to date. Special thanks go to Sandra Henderson, Sarah Newman, Kat Bevington, and Dennis Ward, who were instrumental in the development and operation of both PBB and CSA!
As we eagerly await the return of spring (especially here in Chicago!), we’d like to share a few of our plans so you know what to expect in the coming months. First, you should not notice any immediate change in functionality of Project BudBurst. We will continue to use the existing website and platform until September, 2017. Behind the scenes, we are creating a new website which we hope will continue to have all the features and content you love but will be streamlined and easier to use, especially on mobile devices. With the new website, access to past data will be maintained…don’t worry, you won’t lose it!
We are in the process of hiring a new Project BudBurst director who will be your main contact for all questions related to BudBurst and Citizen Science Academy. We plan to continue to offer CSA courses, however, it will likely be late spring or early summer before we are ready to begin classes. In the meantime, feel free to contact us with any questions or suggestions. We look forward to our continued partnership and the 10th year of Project BudBurst!
